I recently got back from the Spartan Stadium Sprint at Fenway Park. This was an amazing experience. If you are a baseball fan at all, you will appreciate and love this venue. I am a die hard Yankees fan, but still loved being in this ball park.
It is great to have distractions during a run and this race was filled with it. Being able to rnn on the field, doing box jumps and rope climbs right next to the Green Monster, and weaving in and out of the stands were all a unique experience.
If you have never run a Spartan Race, a stadium venue might be a good fit. You get many of the same traditional Spartan Obstacles, but not the intense terrain and mud. If you have run a Spartan Race this is just a different experience and you get a few nontraditional obstacles like box jumps, ball slams, and heavy jump ropes.
This race was one of the easier Spartan Races, but still enjoyable. Being in a stadium the distance is fairly short. And with a lot of twists and turns, you are never really running at full speed. The biggest obstacle in my mind was the cold. I grew up in the Northeast, but after living in Socal for the last 11 years, I am not use to the cold anymore.
This added an additional challenge. Grip becomes much more difficult. The hercules hoist, monkey bars, and Z wall all provided extra challenges. I made it through another race burpee free and hope that trend continues.
Here is a highlight from the race. Sorry I am working on my editing skills. The audio didn’t work and it is a bit shaky, but you at least get to see the obstacles we faced.
