I recently had an idea that I wanted to put in action and I think you are really going to dig it.  I see and ready a ton of info on training and nutrition specifically for OCR’s.  I’m sure you get flooded with a lot of information too.

One of my goals is to help you focus and pay attention to the strategies that will be help you.  With this in mind, each week I am going to put together a week in review blog post.  I will list a few articles and videos that I think are worth sharing.  Some of the content will be mine, but I will also search the internet for others who are putting out quality information.

I hope you enjoy checking out some of these resources.

Top Obstacle Strategy Video:

I saw this very clever technique, from Molly Bond, for overcoming the new 8ft Box Spartan obstacle.  It still requires a good amount of strength, but may be helpful for overcoming this one.

Tried a new technique to get over the 8ft box…. make a loop, step in it and grab the bar at the top to help pull yourself up.*note* only worked for me when the mat was directly against the box. I need that extra couple of inches……..#goals #determination #nevergiveup #putthetimein #trainhard #workout #getfit #fitchick #ocrathlete #ocr #keepgoing #believeinyourself #ocrwomen #yougotthis #excited #smile #noexcuses #warrior #adventure #livespartan #spartan #bepositive #lovelife #spartanrace #spartanarmy2019 #training #spartanpalmerton

Top Race Planning Article:

A topic that I am planning on discussing in more detail in my next podcast is on motivation, especially when you are in a slump and just don’t feel like training.  I think this will hit most of us at some point, but some harder than others.

Here is a good article on staying motivated between races and how you plan your season.  This was written by Loeliiz on Mudrunguide.com.

Check it out here:  https://www.mudrunguide.com/2019/08/oped-how-to-stay-motivated-between-races/

Top Nutrition Article:

While this isn’t a recent article, I just found it recently so I am including it.  There are tons of articles out there on nutrition but in this piece by Melissa Boufounos, she shares some foods to consider during the race to have available for your longer races.

Check it out here:  https://ocrworldchampionships.com/what-should-you-eat-while-running-whole-foods-to-carry-during-your-next-race/

Top Workout Post:

I’m always looking for a good workout and definitely always looking for fun and challenging finishers.  Here is a nice finisher from Amy Waugh that was posted in the SGX Alumni Facebook group.  The ones that look simple on paper are always killers.

Well that is it for this week.  I hope you guys really enjoy this one.  More to come next week!
