Crawling patterns need to be a foundational movement in your training for a Spartan Race.  You are probably familiar with at least a few crawling exercises.  In Spartan training we refer to these as the A, B, C’s.

These crawling patterns mimic common animal movements.  Here we are referring to ape crawls, bear crawls, and crab walks.  There are many more animal movements we can cover, but there is a reason these are the A, B, C’s.

Once you master these movements you might be ready to add progression.  You could move on to more difficult movements like a spider crawl, or you can add external loading.  Here I am referring to a sandbag.  Adding a sandbag to these movements, takes it to a whole new level.
